Learner-centric Design of Digital Mobile Learning

This is a fascinating article on how mobile phones, iPods, PDAs, etc. could be utilized as tools for learning. They are calling this "m-learning" - the next evolution beyond e-learning!

If infact they WERE to use technology as such listed, how much would that cost the districts? SOme conservatives think we already are payinh too much in taxes. Convince them.

I think that what they are talking about is utilizing new media that people already possess. I also realize the danger of this creating another digital divide between rich and poor - this is a concern.

I also know that this is experimental right now - and therefore it seems somewhat pricey, but these technologies quickly drop in price. I am more interested in the idea that "learning communities" are uprooting from traditional settings such as schools and moving into contextually situated settings. I think this has great possibility for education.
