redirecting our youth is a process which i find vital to my discipleship model. it's a huge part of our responsibility as youth workers. although it takes time and patience and investment. it takes effort. which is where we can't be obscure chrisitans and lead a life of casual christianity. as we've talked about before, our kids are watching us all the time. they're aware of what we're doing and they appreciate it, even if we don't think so. when working with our at risk kids, there are going to be so many issues and things we need to gently get them away from. redirect. i think redirecting is the first step in discipling. i really like the list of things to keep in mind about reclaiming the unreclaimable. especially the thoughts that the kids are most likely actually thinking/feeling. i personally, have felt and thought many of these things, and it's been "my officers" who have recognized those things and spoke into me and redirected me. and they've done so to others as well. i don't want to make them seem perfect, but they are wise and are able to recognize those things. so as a youth worker and mentoree of them, i pray that God would instill within me the same attributes which they posses that i might adequately show youth the right way. and bring them back and into a saving knowledge.
